Up for the Cup? Not so much.

It’s never welcome a loss in football but we’ve dealt with a lot worse.

That said, I actually thought we played okay! A little rotation from the league with Millwall in mind I’m sure.

Surprisingly the back 4 which didn’t change (only KWP starting for the injured Veltman) cost us. 3 awful goals to concede, all so easy and all avoidable.

Herrick already admitted he didn’t cover himself in glory for the Fulham winner which seemed to go straight through him! Nonetheless it’s more game time for him and we can hope he continues to grow and learn.

Onto the positives. Our goalscorers! Morato, grabbing his first for the club and in a short time has actually impressed me. I think he’ll claim the LB position as his and we’ve already seen him assist. I expect him to get better and better. Somewhat of a surprise to me, I wasn’t expecting much but been impressed so far. And something tells me he’ll be right at home come Saturday at The Den!

Also on the scoresheet, whatever people think of him, he’s endeared himself to the fans and it was one we’d all been waiting for! Pablo! A decent finish as well from a tight angle. Very interested to see if that puts him into the XI Saturday or if Nuno stays unchanged.

The game itself was entertaining and there were positives as mentioned but I hope we can start to build a foundation at the back and I believe that’s why Nuno started with the same 4 from Wrexham. If that happens, we really will see record numbers as going forward we’re looking very promising.

A shout to Engels who I feel is starting to look better each game now and he’ll be a real key player for us. His calmness and want to keep the ball is a huge positive. Also like his work rate which I think goes unnoticed.

Overall, I would’ve preferred we went through of course, but now we can concentrate on our sole objective of winning this league and promotion. If we take off like I feel is possible, then we can look to the FA Cup in January but even then, we have to get back to the PL most importantly.

First and foremost, it doesn’t get bigger than Saturday and where heroes are made.

Nothing but 3 points will do!
