[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Despite five players pulling out of the England squad, there is still no call-up for West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen.

Late last week, Thomas Tuchel revealed his England squad for the upcoming three-week international break. Unsurprisingly, after he left him out of the World Cup squad, Jarrod Bowen didn’t make it.

However, since then, five players have withdrawn from the squad: Declan Rice, Kobbie Mainoo, Tino Livramento, Cole Palmer, and Marcus Rashford.

The reasons for Palmer’s withdrawal are ‘load management’, so you’d assume the other players have withdrawn for similar reasons. This has caused a lot of uproar amongst England fans, and I can’t say I disagree.

It should be an honour for these players to play for their country as many times as possible. You sort of get it for Declan Rice; he’s played almost every minute or every game possible for him over the last couple of years. Cole Palmer didn’t even go to the World Cup; what load is he managing?

One player who would never do something like that is Jarrod Bowen, and with so many players pulling out and one of them being Cole Palmer in his position, the Hammers man is unfortunate to miss out.

Only James Garner and Morgan Gibbs-White have been called up to replace the withdrawn five.

Selfishly, as West Ham fans, we will be quite happy Bowen hasn’t been called up, as he could do with a rest after playing a lot of games in the packed Championship schedule.

That kind of contradicts what I’ve just said about Palmer; however, as fans, we can be selfish.

It’s a shame for Jarrod, who has been on fire so far this season, but unsurprising considering we are a Championship side.
