Mo Kante! And a tale of 2 worlds!

As ever with Kante, we saw everything he’s all about on Saturday. From the good and the bad.

His introduction into the big derby sparked the team back into life, and with it, came a brilliant long range effort to get us back in the game at 2-1

Fast forward to 2-2 and the team on top of Millwall. Kante then dally’s on the ball, hero to zero in a moment. With Lisbie bearing down on a certain winner for the enemy, Kante drags him to the floor just on the edge of the box. 2-2 it stayed as Mo walked straight off with a red card, and he was a hero once more!

That seems to be Kante in a nutshell, as his introduction to the first team continues to show his ripe age and enthusiasm for the game!

Brilliant in spells. Can carry the ball, see the pass, play between the lines, find the net. He has the potential to be a real top player, but his lack of concentration at times is a concern. He seems to doze off here and there and get caught a lot, or simply isn’t good enough when he claims a starting place.

If he can find consistency, then we have a real good player.

If he doesn’t, then we could find Soucek slotting straight back in. I think he will anyway when he regains fitness, but right now, Kante and co. have a little bit more time to make that more difficult.

Soucek would’ve thrived Saturday. He knows what it means; he gets it. And the first 75 minutes were a loss without him. We were shocking, and exactly why he probably comes straight back in when possible.

The grit and determination he has. The energy he brings, running himself into the ground, throwing himself in front of everything!

That’s what we needed Saturday, and that’s what we’ve needed on more than one occasion this season.

Soucek could be exactly what we need to meet the Championship expectations and all that comes with it. No prima donnas! Just someone willing to work his socks off and drag us back to the PL!

We got away with it Saturday, but Kante walked away a hero after more than playing his part; he will always be remembered for his role.

But with Soucek back breathing down his neck, it could be exactly the healthy competition we need, and actually, I think Kante gives a lot more when under that pressure of not being involved!

So all points to good things to come. A good three-week break now. Let’s hope the players take on board these 8 games and come back knowing exactly what they’re up against.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
