The news that West Ham had a rumble with the Millwall players & staff in the tunnel after the game was welcome in a way, especially after seeing very little of it on the pitch!
Although I am reluctant to dwell on that shambles of a first half at the Den, the lack of fight was something that still doesn’t sit well and is no doubt a concern.
It really felt as though we were being bullied from the off. There was no fightback whatsoever and we even seemed content to just shrug our shoulders at decisions that went against us.
As a West Ham fan, witnessing was not only worrying, but it had my blood boiling. Although, trying to grasp at the positives, we did improve in the 2nd half and finally showed some character.
So when it was reported by Ex that tensions boiled over in the tunnel after the 2-2 draw, I actually was pleased to hear this – just a shame it has to wait until the final whistle for us to show that kind of fight.
Lets hope this experience has been a lesson to our players and management that we cannot allow teams to bully us and play the ref like that. If they do try that route, then we need to match it.
Had we have had that approach for the Millwall game, I am certain we’d now be top of the Championship with 5 league wins on the spin. But all-in-all, its not been a bad start to life in the 2nd tier.
Lets hope we come back from the break and are ready to hit the ground running.
