West Ham defender Maximillian Kilman is proving his haters wrong this season.

When West Ham were relegated, the defence, especially in the first half of the season was a huge reason for this.

Mavropanos and Kilman was a weak partnership in the Premier League they just couldn’t keep the ball out of the net.

In the second half of the season, Disasi came in and Kilman was dropped. Our defence almost instantly improved.

We obviously overpaid for the Englishman paying £40 million, but he was definitely a Premier League level defender at Wolves, he didn’t even look close at West Ham in his two years in the top tier.

However, when we relegated, our fans began to think. Surely he’s good enough for the Championship, right?

Luckily for us Hammers he is, and he is having a very good season so far as we sit second in the table going into the first international break.

Despite Mavropanos getting all of the praise for his goals and deservedly so. There is only one man that’s been our best defender this season and that’s Max Kilman, he’s barely put a foot wrong. That’s not something Mavropanos can say, who has had a lot of mistakes already.

He looks brilliant on the ball, his aerial prowess seems to have grown despite being in a League that is often deemed more physical, and his overall defending has just been better.

I’m still not convinced about Kilman at Premier League level. However, he’s rebuilding his confidence and is looking more and more assured every game.

If he keeps it up and our defence improves as a whole, there is a chance him and Dinos could be our central defensive partnership if we are promoted back to the top flight.
