Edson Alvarez is set to return to the West Ham squad vs QPR next Friday.
Almost two months on from his last West Ham United appearance in the first round of the Carabao Cup vs Portsmouth, the Mexican international could return in our next game.
A recent report from Claret and Hugh suggests the 28-year-old remains part of Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans at West Ham.
The report also says, ‘The big test will no doubt be whether Alvarez plays some part in the Hammers’ behind-closed-doors friendly at Rusg Green this week.’
It’s unclear whether or not this match has yet happened; however, he did put up a cryptic post of his football boots in what some people have said looks like Rush Green, so maybe he did.
The players returned to training on Monday, and Alvarez, like at the start of the season, reportedly turned up on time and trained with no issues at all.
Claret and Hugh have also reported that we turned down a €15 million offer for Alvarez in the summer. So the fact that maybe we have rejected offers, and Alvarez wasn’t pushing for a move. Maybe the real reason for his absence in recent weeks has been because of the kidnapping accusations?
The Mexico captain was forced to deny knowing about the kidnapping of a movie director in Mexico City who was making a film about the 2026 World Cup on the midfielder.
We don’t know exactly what happened, and it’s probably for the best it stays behind closed doors. But it does look likely he’s going to be back involved after this long international break, and I think it could really benefit us.
