Nils Koppen’s quite rightly well-received interview with West Ham TV has seen the Recruitment head state that we are readying for January.
Although the new season still feels somewhat fresh as we all get used to our new-look Hammers side, it seems that new faces are expected again in the new year.
Now, it must be stressed that a spend-up wasn’t hinted at. In fact, Koppen made it clear that’s it’s not an ideal window to do much business.
However, that does not mean we are doing nothing. In fact, the Director of Recruitment has stated that work is already underway as we look to strengthen to give our promotion charge a real push.
The interview by Chris Skull and James Collins has understandably proven popular with fans, with Koppen providing a very open and honest conversation about the mechanics of a new setup at the club, with a clear plan in place of what we are able to achieve.
One thing he emphasised was getting in the right types of characters, with a nod to a lack of leaders in the group, which has been in mind during our recruitment process to date.
That will undoubtedly be a factor as we head into January, with Koppen already stating that he and Nuno are starting to look at areas that will be the focus in the next transfer window, as West Ham look to spearhead our promotion charge even further in the new year.
This is a clear and welcome shift from the status quo in east London, as fans get accustomed to life under new leadership, which the early signs must be said are leaning very much on the side of positive.
