Away day to Crystal Palace 9th Feb 2019

After some abysmal games of late from our West Ham, we managed to up our game at the London Stadium against a big team once again and get a point against top of the league (at the time of writing) Liverpool. We can hopefully build on this, go to Palace and bring back the 3 points in our quest for Europe, as Pellegrini has said that is the target.

General information

Stadium: Selhurst Park

Capacity: 25,456

Address: Selhurst Park, London, SE25 6PU

The stadium features a mixture of old stands and modern stands, and they are planning to modernise another stand in the future. Despite the low capacity, it’s famed for its atmosphere from the very passionate Palace fans that sit in the Holmesdale Road Stand. For those interested in the history of the stadium, the single-tiered Main Stand was built in 1924 and still stands, however it has several supporting beams and its age is beginning to show.

Travel

Train: The nearest railway stations to the stadium are Selhurst, Thornton Heath and Norwood Junction which can all be accessed by Victoria Station. From London Bridge, you can get to Thornton Heath and Norwood Junction. The stadium is about a 15 minute walk from each of these.

Fans travelling from Stratford/Essex may find this route easiest:

Jubilee Line train from West Ham to Canada Water, change here for London Overground services to West Croydon. Get off at Norwood Junction; please note that Crystal Palace station is not near the football club.

Car: As Selhurst Park is in a built up area of London, driving is not recommended. There is also no parking, unless you want to park further out and get a train in but as we as a fanbase are fairly nearby, it is much easier getting the train from your home station.

Parking: There is no parking available.

Food and drink

Inside the stadium there is only one small area to buy food and drinks for away fans in the stadium. The food on offer includes cheeseburgers (£4.50), palace ale hot dogs (£5), hot dogs (£4), chicken burgers (£4.50), steak and ale pie (£4), tomato and black bean pots (£5) and French fries (£2.50). Alcohol choice inside the stadium includes Carlsberg (£4.50 bottle), Somersby cider (£4.50 bottle) and wine (£4.50 bottle).

Pubs nearby are fairly limited, however The Railway Telegraph proves to be a popular choice as it’s spacious.

Enjoy the day at a brilliant away ground, support the lads and lets bring the 3 points back with us. COYI!
