David Moyes was full of praise for Declan Rice who was instrumental in the narrow victory over Kidderminster Harriers in the FA Cup.

West Ham were fortunate to overcome the National League side and had to grind out the win despite being arguably 2nd best throughout the match.

“Kidderminster were excellent today,” said Moyes. “They prepared well for us. They’ve had games when we haven’t so we should have come into it as the fresher team but they looked more ready for the whole situation.

“They worked hard for it, carried a bit of luck which you need, but in the end we just got there.

“But we won’t get very far if we play like that too often and thankfully we haven’t played like that too often. Hopefully we don’t do it again.”

Moyes was also eager to highlight the importance of the once again excellent Declan Rice, who changed the game when he entered the match in the 2nd half.

“We needed somebody special,” added the boss. “Declan is special and he made the difference, because we couldn’t make the difference with what we had. It was a great goal.”

West Ham are now in the 5th round pot which will be drawn around midday today on ITV.
