Hammers defender Craig Dawson, who scored the injury time leveller at Leicester City at the weekend, was full of praise for teammate Issa Diop, who came in as a last minute change for Kurt Zouma.

Diop put in a solid performance, and Dawson acknowledged the brilliant display considering the urgent reshuffle required at the back prior to kick off.

“To come in so late, fair credit to Issa as he was very good,” said Dawson. “It was difficult for him to come in so late with little warning, so he was good.

“He was excellent. Fair play to him because he’s been working hard on the training pitch and he’s been excellent in training, so he’s got an opportunity and he did very well.

“Issa is very quiet but we’ve started to hear him on the pitch which is good. He was excellent, so well done to him.”

Dawson was also keen to heap praise on the in form Jarrod Bowen, not only for his display and well taken early goal, but also for the delivery that lead to Dawsons equaliser.

“You can see Jarrod’s confidence is very high and he’s a top, top player,” Dawson added. “We expect big things from him every week now and hopefully we’ll keep seeing it.”
