West Ham have been dealt a huge injury blow with our club record signing ruled out after picking up a shoulder injury.

Lucas Paqueta, who signed for the Hammers in the summer for a club record fee of around £50m, picked up the injury in the recent draw at Southampton at the weekend.

The West Ham Way can exclusively reveal that the Brazilian is likely to miss a couple of weeks of football as it been established the injury is related to his collar bone.

This will serve as another knock to David Moyes with the boss already having to juggle a somewhat injury crisis recently, with Craig Dawson (thigh) still ruled out.

However, there is positive news with Kurt Zouma now recovered from illness to start tonight and Angelo Ogbonna once again available on the bench.

Paqueta has been finding his feet recently with his blossoming relationship with Gianluca Scamacca evidently growing in recent weeks. The loss of the playmaker is a blow, although Moyes will be hoping this will provide others to step up and make a case for a starting role in the side.

Speaking ahead of the match in regards to the injury to Paqueta, ExWHUEmployee although disappointed, wanted to quell any fears that the injury is serious and the signing from Lyon should return soon.

“Lucas went off from the Southampton game with an injured collar bone,” stated our man-in-the-know. “He is due to be out for around 2 weeks frustratingly. It is a big blow for us, but thankfully it is not too serious.”
