West Ham got off to a solid start in our pre-season with a comfortable victory over Boreham Wood.

In a match that saw a squad mixed with youth and experience, our Hammers looked in good shape as preparations continued ahead of the Premier League kick off in just over a months time.

David Moyes allowed many to build up their fitness whilst also providing some with an opportunity to impress, although the main highlight in terms of the lineup was seeing Gianluca Scamacca return to the starting lineup.

The Italian, wearing his newly assigned number 11 shirt, made his first appearance in several months having endured a tough first season in East London that was blighted by injury.

Scamacca though demonstrated his qualities, with some excellent play in build ups to remind Moyes and Hammers fans what he is capable of.

First half goals from Danny Ings and Kamarai Swyer settled the game down nicely for West Ham, with Boreham Wood then facing a mountain to climb to get back into it.

Cup winner Jarrod Bowen also got on the score sheet and the game was wrapped up when Gideon Kodua finished in style.

The Wood did manage to grab a consolation, but that was all it was as David Moyes side left Hertfordshire with a positive result and performance to kick-off our pre-season exactly how he would have hoped.

Our Hammers now head off to Australia to continue the buildup to the new season, with a match against Perth Glory on 15th July, followed by a clash against rivals Spurs on the 18th.
