West Ham are closing in on the signing of Manchester City winger Carlos Borges, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

Our Hammers have been tracking the Citizens Academy player for some time, with Ex reporting in early June that West Ham were interested in bringing the pacey 19 year-old to East London.

Talks have been underway between both clubs with a ‘buy-back’ clause being an item of negotiation, however this appears to have now been resolved and the player is now set to formally become a West Ham player.

“The Carlos Borges transfer is very close to being agreed with Manchester City now and hopefully can all be finalised soon,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon. “The main stumbling block appeared to be the buy back clause.

“Manchester City have inserted these clauses into contracts of previous youngsters they they have sold such as Romeo Lavia to Southampton. Other clubs have also used these strategies too such as Chelsea with Tino Livramento again to Southampton and Tammy Abraham to Roma.

“It is thought that Borges buy back clause will be around £40m which is a decent figure considering we are due to sign him for around £14m.”

As confirmed by David Moyes when speaking to Sky Sports, West Ham are eager to continue to improve on the squad ahead of the upcoming season, with ex also providing updates on the pursuits of a number of players.
