Hugo Ekitike could be subject to further interest from West Ham in the January transfer window.

The Frenchman has been of interest to the Hammers for numerous transfer windows now, and it does not look like stopping just yet.

Having fallen hugely out of favour at Paris Saint-Germain, many clubs have been alerted to his availability – with the terms of such availability being suitable for West Ham.

ExWHUEmployee stated that West Ham were aiming to avoid “doing an Everton”previously ; the club overspent in 2021 and do not want to breach Financial Fair Play regulations. This means that spending in January could well be limited.

As a result, a deal for Ekitike could suit our Hammers, as PSG may well sanction a loan for the striker.

Les Parisiens spent the majority of the summer window attempting to convince Ekitike to move to Frankfurt – a move that would likely have earned PSG a discount on what ended up being a €100M deal for Randal Kolo-Muani. Ekitikerefused however, in order to try and secure himself a move to England.

Despite West Ham, Brentford, and Crystal Palace’s efforts to sign him on deadline day, Ekitike ended up staying in Paris – a situation that was destined for disaster. The striker has only played a very small amount this season, and will certainly be looking to move away in January.

Ekitike is one of many forward options West Ham are looking at – with the likes of Dominic Solanke and Timo Werner among others being shortlisted for the striker position. That said, Ekitike’s suitability to West Ham’s system alongside his availability on loan could well be the difference maker that brings him to East London in the new year.
