West Ham could look to sign Swiss wonder-kid in the January transfer window, according to reports.

One thing that is stopping the Hammers from taking the step up to the next level is their lack of quality depth. Their 5-1 smashing against Liverpool proved that their backup simply is not up to scratch. A number of areas need to be added to in the coming windows, and one of those is certainly the midfield.

West Ham have a strong midfield in James Ward-Prowse, Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez, but behind them there is virtually nothing. Pablo Fornals has been having to play as a defensive midfielder at times and it just does not work sadly.

One potential suitor is FC Luzern’s Ardon Jashari. The young midfielder first made waves at last year’s world cup where he put in some impressive performances for Switzerland. Since then, he has continued to work on his game and has become absolutely crucial to his club.

Unsurprisingly, his brilliant form has started to attract interest from teams around Europe, according to Solothurner Zeitung (via Sport Witness). Villareal, Freiburg and West Ham were all named, with the Irons apparently holding talks already with the 21 year old.

The East London side could seal a deal at around £5 million, which would suit their limited budget heading into the Winter window.

Disappointingly though, the Lurzen chairman, Stefan Wolf, does not feel like his club needs to sell their star player anytime soon. “We don’t have to sell Ardon. In addition, three parties always have to agree to a transfer – there is nothing on my table,” he told Nau.ch (via Sport Witness).

Signing a player from the Swiss league at such a young age would be a massive risk, but without risk there is no reward. If he can make the step up to the Premier League, it could be a shrewd bit of business from our Irons.
