Callum Wilson could be on his way to West Ham, but there are some major doubts about the reality of this.

West Ham fans hate Callum Wilson, but Callum Wilson loves playing West Ham. Whether it was when he was at Bournemouth or now he is at Newcastle, it is almost inevitable that he will score against the Hammers every year.

Well it seems like the only way the East London side can stop him is by signing him, and according to the Daily Mail  that is exactly what they plan on doing. The 31 year old’s contract expires in 2025 and Newcastle seem eager to cash in on him before this, especially with their concerns over breaking FFP.

Surprisingly, the likes of AC Milan and Chelsea are just a couple of clubs that are said to be interested in acquiring his services. While those two might be weighing up a move, there are some serious doubts whether the Hammers will end up making a move for the Englishman.

Firstly, is his obvious injury problems. Throughout his Premier League career, he has had countless injuries – a lot of which are more long term. Would West Ham really want to spend money on someone carrying those risks?

Secondly, his age is a massive concern as, at this point, he is only going to get worse as he enters the final years of his career. His goal scoring record is still good, scoring 8 in all competitions but you are only going to get a couple of seasons of that at a push.

Finally, is the podcast he has with Michail Antonio. West Ham are already said to be unhappy that the Jamaican international’s comments on it, they almost certainly would not want two players at their club doing it.

However, anything can happen in football and he is someone that the Irons have been interested in signing before. Depending on what happens in the next few days there is always a possibility that they do end up making a move for him, but it seems extremely doubtful at this point.
