West Ham are set to battle Aston Villa for the signature of an ex-Premier League star this Summer.

There are certain players that constantly get linked with moves to one of the ‘big clubs’. Year after year they’re expected to take that step up but it never happens. There is no better example of this than Wilfried Zaha.

While he did actually spend a couple of years playing for Manchester United, he only made 2 appearances, probably as he got his big move too early. Aside from that though, the large majority of his career was spent in South London playing for Crystal Palace.

Particularly in his second spell for the Eagles, he made a name for himself for one of, if not the best players outside of the ‘big 6’. He managed 97 goals and assists in 305 Premier League games before securing a move to Galatasaray in the Summer.

However, just a year later, he could be set to move back to England with both West Ham and Aston Villa interested in acquiring his services, according to talkSPORT.

Over the years, Zaha was linked with a move to a number of clubs with Arsenal having recurring interest. Even in January, he had the chance to move back to the Premier League but he opted to stay in Turkey and to help Galatasary in their title charge.

What sort of fee his side would want remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that he would be a sensational addition to the West Ham squad. The Hammers are absolutely desperate for a left-winger following the departures of Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma. It will not be easy competing with Villa, but he could be exactly what the East London side are missing.
