David Moyes has confessed that West Ham are missing Declan Rice this season and believes that they could have got more money for him.

While he was just as good for West Ham, his transfer to Arsenal has finally led the wider footballing community to understand just what level Declan Rice is on. He has been absolutely pivotal to the Gunners’ title charge this season and has started getting more goal involvements in recent weeks.

Despite what many said at the time. £105 million was a steal for a player of his quality and David Moyes believes the Hammers should have got more for him. “I always said, and I think everyone laughed, that he should be £150m,” Moyes stated. “I think other players have been sold for close to his price and I don’t think they’ve touched Declan’s level of performance.”

“So, I think in time maybe we’ll look back and think it could have been more. But let’s be fair, I think most people including the media, everybody, would have said it was a really good price for Declan at the time.”

Unsurprisingly, losing a world-class player like Rice is always going to be extremely difficult and, while the East London side have done a good job at replacing him, you’re never going to be able to replicate the effect he had on the team.

“We’ve hugely missed Declan Rice,” the Scotsman confessed. “I think Declan covered up a lot of things, was able to tidy things up and help us.”

“He’s probably the best player in England at the moment I would say. If you lose the best player in England out of your team you’re going to be affected one way or the other, doesn’t matter how good your signings have been and how well they’ve done. His miss, we’ll feel it.”
