West Ham came from behind to secure a crucial point in our hunt for a European place in a draw with bitter rivals Spurs at the London Stadium.

David Moyes’ side were back in action fast following a capitulation at Newcastle at the weekend, which saw our Hammers squander a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3, in what could have significantly dented confidence amongst the squad.

However it certainly wasn’t realised in the London derby against the north Londoners, as West Ham started bright and looked up for the fight – although almost immediately after starting well, we were a goal behind.

On the first real attack at goal, Moyes defence were caught napping as Brennan Johnson fired in at ease, with the dread that West Ham were in for a long night against our rivals.

It was not to be however, as our Irons dug in and continued to look a threat, and were rewarded on the quarter hour mark when Kurt Zouma headed in a Jarrod Bowen corner to deservedly draw level.

West Ham continued to dominate much of the first half although Spurs looked the better side in the second, as West Ham had to work hard to earn a valuable point.

It should have been won though when Michail Antonio missed a glorious 1-on-1 chance, but a point was certainly respected and arguably a fair conclusion overall.

Our Podcast co-host and club insider ExWHUEmployee, who was at the match, was full of praise for David Moyes’ side, although admitted its now crunch time as West Ham look to secure a top 8 finish this season.

“I thought we played well,” stated Ex. “We had some very good attacking moments and periods of the game where j thought we were completely on top.

“We did well to respond to get another early goal conceded from our right side and with more composure around the box I think we could have won this game.

“We are still clinging on for our lives in 7th spot and need to start picking up some wins to make sure that is our position at the end of the season.”
