Ashley Fletcher is set to join West Ham in the next few days after undergoing a medical at the club.

Seemingly the young England U20 striker has turned down a new deal at Manchester United due to various reasons including lack of opportunities, and feels the arrival of Jose Mourinho will make it even more difficult for him to get near the first team.

He played on loan at League One Barnsley in the second half of 2015/2016 and scored the opening goal in their successful playoff final against Millwall (which would please any Iron).  Ashley ended the season with 9 goals in 26 appearances.

If he completes his move, Ashley would become the 3rd young player that the club have signed this Summer after the Spanish U17 striker Anthony Martinez from Valencia and the young Portuguese star Domingos Quina from Benfica. The Portugal U18 international had been at Chelsea for the last 12 months but was never registered as their player.

The club are also hoping to conclude deals for Kevin Campbell’s son, Tyrese, a striker at Manchester City and Tyrell Robinson from Arsenal in the near future as they look to bolster their ranks at youth level as well as strengthening the Senior squad.

If Fletcher completes his move to the club he will likely replace the departing Elliot Lee who has just signed a contract with Barnsley.
