Here is another video from Frankie Levin who reflects on the Watford game. I am yet to bring myself to talking about it yet but I may do a column later with my thoughts. I think Frankie offers some interesting opinions and alongside footage of the game. We are in a transitional stage at the moment and there was always going to be teething problems but in my eyes some of these things should have been thought of. There are some obvious changes that need to be made to the team as well. It is worrying to say it but I believe Bilic is under a bit of pressure. We must get a result at WBA where we won 3-0 last year! Anyway over to Frankie and his opinions.
Gday Frankie
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion for all things WHU.Your videos make me feel like a lot closer than I really am.
I’ve followed WHU since I was 10yo in 1972 from Newcastle Australia. My junior team were largely marone with white. My two cousins played first division football in Newcastle. They were part timers working full time in other jobs. The crowd mainly being their mates and a few family members.
I was in London in 1984 and missed seeing themm play by one day.We had Foxtel covering EPL but now Optus cover it.
We have one live EPL match of the week of SBS free to air.Last night the Manchester Derby.BeIN Sport had the Celtic Rangers match at 9pm.Aussie Rogic plays for Celtic. You’ve got the Kiwi in defence.
The game kicked off around midnight AEST.I was watching early in the first half.West Ham seemed to be playing superbly. Score was 2 NIL .Went to bed hoping that WHU would consolidate and kick on to victory. When I woke up this morning before leaving for church I was absolutely guttered by the score.
I was also deeply distressed by crowd control issues.Just wonder if the team was put off by the trouble in the terraces ?The authorities need to separate the visitors areas and clearly have barriers of fencing / netting and adequate levels of West Ham friendly stewards. I have read reports of 10 000 kids in the stadium. In Australia we have sections of stadiums that are family friendly and grog free.Sorry to bang on about this .It appereared there was a reaction to an email on Friday to WHU supporters concerning no standing and this could have inflamed disgruntled supporters.I hope that this trouble never happens again.
In Australia the football media is pro AFL (Aussie Rules) and Rugby League. If they report anything about your football they always show crowd trouble and players simulating injury etc.etc. They have always tried to suppress our game.Labelling it an ethnic sport (ie played by people of Southern and Eastern European descent.). Things have improved over the last couple of decades with Aussies doing well in The EPL.
Keep up the good work. You certainly know your stuff.
Regards Morris
Newcastle Australia.
Ps: Our local A League starts in a month. They just sacked our manager and his assistant last week.
We are all pretty gutted.I’ll include links of a passionate Newcastle Jets fan here. He’s passionate for an Aussie on football as you can get. He’s good value.
