Background
Gianluigi Donnarumma is an AC Milan youth player who was born in castellammare di stabia ,Italy .

Donnarumma was signed by AC Milan at the age of 14, however and it only took him 2 years to make his senior debut for AC Milan.

Gianluigi shocked many in Italy making the number 1 goalkeeper spot his own at the young age of 16.

He has been dubbed the next Buffon , the future of Italian football and already has one senior cap to his name for the Italian national team.

Style of play
Donnarumma is very tall, being only 17 he should have a little more growing to do, you wouldn’t think he is still a teenager when looking at the size of him.

Obviously for a Goalkeeper it helps him to be Tall and his reflexes to make saves are impressive.

Of course many claim him to be a Buffon… it’s always easy to say a player is the next “Ronaldo” “Tevez” etc.

But breaking it down, Donnarumma does share some similarities with the great Buffon.

For example both are great shot stoppers and have a great command of their area.

However they both have different goalkeeper styles.

Donnarumma is also a sweeper Keeper who can play a bit, he is good at rushing out to stop strikers who break through the defensive line, he is very alert.

That’s more common with more modern day goalkeepers these days.

Buffon is more conservative but of course they do have similar strengths.

More on Donnarumma ,

his huge presences makes him good in 1 v 1 situations, often putting the striker off.

Penalty saving he is good also.

Potentially he could be one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Coming through at such an Early age and considering how long goalkeepers play for.

I truly believe he has an incredible career ahead of him.

He’s very confident and helps his team play a more expansive game.

One improvement to make him even better as a goalkeeper would be if he attempted to catch the ball more.

His handling is a bit inconsistent.

He has almost a more Spanish style about him, however he punches he ball out really well and with being so young it’s not a problem.

Lots of time to improve any weaknesses in his game.

Definitely going to be a top goalkeeper.
