It is nice to be starting an ‘away days’ feature with some positivity for a change. After three wins on the bounce and some exceptional team performances, we now travel to Goodison Park. Everton away is never an easy match and with only Tottenham conceding less goals than them, Sunday is going to be no different. We all know how last season’s match ended and if we have a game with even a fraction of that entertainment, it will definitely be a great game.

With the likes of Cresswell and Ayew now returning to the squad and the positivity that must be around the whole club, I believe we can get a decent result. It will certainly be tough, but things are on the up and hope our form continues this weekend.

General Information:

Capacity: 40,569

Address: Goodison Road, Liverpool, L4 4EL

Away turnstiles: Bullens Road Stand, 53 – 60.

Seating The West Ham fans will be seated in the east side of the stadium, in the two tiered Bullens Road Stand at the side of the pitch. The stand is very old and the quality of seating isn’t the greatest, especially if you are seated at the back of the stadium. If you are sitting at the back, you are likely to have a supporting pillar blocking your view, which can obviously be a bit frustrating.

Travel

 Directions/Parking

From London Stadium it takes between 3.5 and 4.5 hours by car, via the M1 and M6.

From the M6 exit at J21a you will need to follow the M62 until you reach the end of the motorway. You then follow the A5058 Queen’s Drive towards Liverpool. After four miles, at the roundabout junction with the A59, turn left into County Road. Three quarters of a mile along County Road, turn left into Spellow Lane and then left into Goodison Road. left at the traffic lights into Utting Avenue. Keep going for one mile and then turn right at the corner of Stanley Park into Priory Road.

If you arrive by 1.00pm there should be sufficient street parking around Walton Lane. The other option is to park in Walton Lifestyles Sports Centre (Sat-Nav postcode L4 9XP) where you can park for £7 – it is about a fifteen-minute walk to Goodison Park and by parking there you avoid the traffic at Stanley Park and it is only a five minute drive from the motorway. The last option is to park near Anfield or in Stanley Park for £8.

Train The nearest station is Kirkdale on the Merseyrail Northern Line, which is about a mile from Goodison Park. Trains to Kirkdale depart from Liverpool Central Station which is a short walk from Liverpool Lime Street. Changes can also be made from Liverpool Moorfields Station to connect to the Northern Line. Trains also run from the North starting at Ormskirk and Kirkby.

Soccerbus is a shuttle service running directly between Sandhills station and Goodison Park. If you’re travelling by train, ask for a ticket to Goodison Park and for an add-on of just £1.60 you will get a return trip on the Soccerbus. You can also pay as you board the bus, for only £2.00 (£1.00 under 18’s) for a single or return ticket. The Soccerbus service runs for two hours before kick-off and for fifty minutes after the final whistle.

Drinking

There are quite a lot of choices when it comes to drinking venues, but you should avoid the Royal Oak as this is for home fans only.

There is also a small outdoor Fanzone behind the Park Stand which serves alcohol and food for both home and away fans.  Refreshments are available in the concourses, but remember they do not allow drinks to be brought into the stadium.

If you’re not going to be at the match, keep an eye on @WestHamWaycouk on Twitter for live updates throughout the game.

I really hope that those of you travelling up, have another enjoyable day out and of course a safe journey (and a celebratory return journey).
