West Ham defeated Premier League strugglers Watford 1-0 at London Stadium which solidified our Irons chase for a top 4 finish this season.

The game was tight from the off with the visitors certainly up for the challenge in their hunt for some much needed points in their fight for survival.

Their introduction of a new manager in Roy Hodgson was felt as the Hornets were well organised which made it hard for West Ham to take any real control of the game.

Despite a good chance from Bowen in the opening half it was largely uneventful, as both sides had nerves that this was more of a must not lose game.

The opening of the second period however felt different from the off, that both managers messages were to go all out for the points, so understandably things opened up.

Watford did have chances which created nerves but really the quality of our Hammers started to show as our attacks became more fruitful as the key players started to get a grip in the game.

Rice, Bowen and the introduced Lanzini really dictated play, and finally we were rewarded when the once again impressive Bowen hit home from a deflected shot.

It should have been 2 soon after when again Bowen smashed in a shot which was pushed onto the post.

Ultimately the miss was futile as West Ham saw out a crucial 3 points and get ourselves right back in the driving seat of a top 4 finish this season.
