Following our hard fought 2-1 win over Aston Villa at the weekend, Craig Dawson has said the confidence boost will be taken into our huge Europa League last-16 2nd leg tie against Sevilla on Thursday.

It was a well deserved victory over Steven Gerrards side on Sunday, with West Ham very much the most dominating side throughout, with their front line of Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings and Phillipe Courtinho kept relatively quiet all afternoon and that is something Dawson will want to see repeated on Thursday night.

“We’ll take confidence from this into Thursday,” said the defender. “Credit to the lads and all the staff for today’s win. It’s all about recovery now and getting ourselves ready for Thursday night.

Dawson acknowledged that Villa would be no pushovers following their recent very good run of form and he was delighted how the game plan to executed to perfection.

“We were up against a very good side so it was a great win for us in the end,” Dawson added. “We’ve had a lot of games, so credit to the lads. We worked ever so hard and got the win.

“Keeping on switching play was key today and I thought we did that very we very well. Credit to the wingers as they took the ball down and attacked them, so it was good tactical work from us this week.”
