There have been conflicting reports surrounding one of West Ham’s potential David Moyes replacements.

While the board keep insisting that there has not been a decision made on David Moyes future, it feels like the most likely outcome is that they part ways when his contract expires at the end of the season.

A number of names are being considered, with some talks taking place with Ruben Amorim last week – a manager the West Ham fanbase would be delighted with.

Unfortunately though, it is a manager that they are pretty opposed to who keeps being linked with the job: Julen Lopetegui. His career has been rather uninspiring. He did an ok job with Real Madrid, won a Europa League with Sevilla but also guided them to 16th place in La Liga, and left Wolves off his own back before anyone could make a proper judgement on him.

AC Milan are also said to be keen on appointing him, news that their fans are distraught with. In fact, they’re so unhappy with it that they started a petition against him that now has thousands of signatures. Despite this, the Italian media believe he had turned down the West Ham job for the Milan job.

However, there have been reports from both Jack Rosser and Jacob Steinberg today that state he is now unlikely to move to Italy with the East London side still holding firm interest.

Ultimately, it doesn’t seem like there is a definitive answer to what is happening – which makes sense. The board aren’t able to make a decision on who will replace the Scotsman if they’ve not even decided whether he is leaving or not. That said, the Italian media has a tendency to jump the gun and that’s probably the case when it comes to him supposedly rejecting West Ham.
