The seemingly never-ending ‘will he, won’t he’ saga surrounding Jesse Lingard is thankfully nearing its conclusion.

As reported by ExWHUemployee on Patreon throughout the transfer window, West Ham made a formal offer to sign Lingard permanently back in early June.

Since then the former Manchester United midfielder has been weighing up all offers before deciding on his next club, with West Ham confident that a return to East London was on the cards.

Ex has since revealed that Lingard has made it very clear to the club that West Ham is his preferred destination, however since an offer has come in from Nottingham Forest with significant finances which West Ham are not prepared to match.

It is understood that the Lingard camp were hoping West Ham would improve the current offer that would be closer to what has been put on the table by Forest.

As it stands, West Ham still are holding hope that Lingard will still decide on a return to London Stadium but, understandably, confidence has dwindled.

Ex reported previously that the player wants this resolved by the end of the week so the hope is we’ll have more of an answer very soon.
