Following a positive week with victory in Europe, the Premier League and a potential big signing impending, I catch up with ExWHUemployee to get an update on the latest goings on at the club.

Ex first I have to ask for an update on Lucas Paqueta, one we are all very excited about. Can you give us an update on this potential record signing?

I can confirm Paqueta has completed his medical successfully. The club are looking to formally announce today with the player in line to be available for the Spurs game on Wednesday.

There are still a couple of things to deal with including a work permit, although this isn’t expected to be an issue. Although it could delay things with the home office not working on a bank holiday.

Fantastic news – here’s hoping we see him in the kit soon. One concern from the fan base is the Aguerd injury as it has been kept somewhat quiet. What can you give us in terms of an update in how he’s doing?

It’s my understanding that the player is going to be out until around the World Cup time, so it could well be he’ll be available for the boxing day match. He’s on track which is good news but its such a shame, considering he’s our record signing for a defender.

Just imagine we had him now along with the others and of course potentially Paqueta soon too. Here’s hoping he stays on track with his recovery and we seem him out on the pitch soon.

Would you agree Ex that a new midfielder to help with our current pool could be the final piece of the jigsaw this summer?

Yes it could well be that the club want to look to add in that area a more established player to possibly partner with Rice, especially with an out of form Soucek. Although he did play better this week in my opinion. Also, I actually believe Downes and Coventry could provide that but it is looking likely that Moyes will want to strengthen further.

With this I wouldn’t be surprised if the loan market will be explored, as we have reported previously. We are exploring options with some Chelsea players we are keen on.

If I am being greedy I’d like to see another forward and attacking midfielder for further cover. Depth is very important especially as we have European football to contend with again.

Ex would you say that the hierarchy are delivering on showing the ambition required to be competing and pushing on as a club.

If we do get Paqueta over the line, then yes. Make no mistake that would be a huge statement signing – he’s a top player and one who is a regular for Brazil. It certainly sends the right message to others, our fans and of course players at the club.

The club have spent serious money, we are one of the biggest spenders in world football. I also think there will be one or two more following Paqueta should we get that done.

Finally Ex, we tied with Silkeborg in the Europa Conference group following you and Dave Walkers, lets say, ‘tour’ of their stadium in the week. The question is, can we expect to see you both now line up against the Hammers in a few weeks?

Ha I think we are more likely to be banned from entering than making it on the pitch again! I honestly couldn’t believe it when they were drawn in our group.

Oddly enough when we were at the airport to head home I had some leftover change to spend, but I said to Dave I’ll keep it instead so I can use if we draw Silkeborg. So I was on the phone to Dave immediately when the draw was made! Unbelievable.

We are already booked up to go back there and I cannot wait!

ExWHUemployee will be making a Special Guest appearance on our YouTube Channel this week. Stay tuned Hammers fans!
