West Ham are set to be given a huge injury boost ahead of our London derby clash with Fulham at London Stadium on Sunday.

David Moyes’ side are having a very positive week so far, having beaten Anderlecht in the Europa Conference League in Belgium on Thursday night which followed a vital win in the Premier League over Wolves last Saturday.

Confidence is running high going into the derby match this weekend, with Fulham coming off the back of a 4-1 hammering at home to Newcastle last time out, and a key factor in that was the loss of star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic due to injury.

The Serbian international left the field after injuring his ankle in the loss to the Magpies and there is high expectation that the game this weekend is going to come too soon for their hitman to feature.

Comments from Fulham manager Marco Silva to the press this week certainly didn’t reflect that the striker was set to return, with the manager stating the club don’t want t rely too heavily on Mitrovic.

“I don’t want to solely rely on Mitro,” said Silva. “All of the players who aren’t on the team are crucial to us, and it’s up to us to keep working hard to get them healthy again as soon as possible.”

The loss of Mitrovic for Fulham will be a huge boost to David Moyes as West Ham look to build on the back of successive victories, in the hope a 3rd can be achieved to show the teams form has really turned a corner to kick on with this campaign.

Dave Walker of The West Ham Way believes that if Mitrovic is indeed ruled out, then it will be a huge boost ahead of the London derby on Sunday.

“If there was one player you would want to be missing from this game, its Mitrovic,” stated Dave. “He’s massive for them. Only Haaland and Kane have scored more so far this season, he’s a real threat.”

ExWHUEmployee also commented on the potential injury loss for the visitors. “If he is out then its a massive bonus as he’s by far their best attacking threat,” said Ex. “He’s a handful for any defence to deal with.”

However, former footballer and now Pundit Paul Merson has stated since that he has spoken with Mitrovic this week, with the striker hopeful he can recover in time.

“The result of this game will depend on Aleksandar Mitrovic’s fitness,” Merson told Sportskeeda. “I saw him earlier this week and he said he hopes to be fit, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
