West Ham boss David Moyes has allayed fears surrounding the fitness of key players ahead of our Premier League showdown this Sunday against Southampton.

Our Hammers head to the south coast to take on a struggling Saints side who’s manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is finding himself under pressure with his team currently occupying 17th place in the top flight.

Although West Ham only sit 4 places above the hosts this weekend, a run of 6 wins from the last 7 games in all competitions has certainly dimmed the spotlight that was very much on David Moyes only a few weeks ago.

Moyes’ side are finding form and are starting to look the team that has produced so well over the 2 previous seasons, with the signings made this summer really starting to click to give fans hope than another positive campaign is in full swing.

The trip to St Mary’s on Sunday presents West Ham another chance to gain maximum points as we face off against a side who have looked vulnerable, and although there have been injury and illness concerns around the club this week, Moyes has provided an update to show that he has many options at his disposal on Sunday.

“Antonio is a little better. Kurt has had the sniffles so we need to see how they are but hopefully they have a chance,” said the boss to the press on both Michail Antonio and Kurt Zouma who missed out on Thursday night against Anderlecht.

“We took a precaution on Thilo more than anything last night but we hope he’s going to be fine,” Moyes also added when asked on the fitness of Thilo Kehrer, a stand out player so far for our Hammers this season.

The other players in question are both Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna, who both had to leave the field of play with injuries this week. However, its Dawson picked up a dead leg and Ogbonna was due to a tight hamstring. So although this could mean they miss possibly this Sunday, Moyes has enough options available to cope should they be ruled out.

Our man-in-the-know ExWHUEmployee will be providing fans an update soon on the current state of play on both players.
