There are ongoing doubts over the long term future of Craig Dawson with the defender eyeing a move away from the club.

The Hammers defender has developed into a cult hero in East London, having joined the club just over 2 years ago in an initial loan from Watford, which was made permanent in the summer of 2021.

Since his arrival Dawson has become one of our most consistent performers, with a no-nonsense approach to his play which has served as a key component to David Moyes’ side in helping us achieve back-to-back European football qualifications over the last 2 campaigns.

ExWHUEmployee reported on Patreon at the beginning of the summer transfer window the news that Dawson sadly is struggling with long distance travelling between London and up north to be with his family, and had informed the club he was keen to relocate closer to home.

It has been a bitter blow for all connected with the club, with the defender having become a huge fan favourite, and many were hoping that Dawson could be persuaded to instead extend his current deal, which expires at the end of this season.

West Ham are still keen to reach a new agreement however there are doubts whether he will commit, which could therefore even see the defender depart sooner than the summer to avoid him leaving for nothing come June.

If the Irons defender opts to commit to a longer term deal it would be a welcome lift, however if not there is no doubt he’ll leave on fantastic terms with everybody at West Ham. Dawson has been a been a reliable constant in the second David Moyes era at the club, and one who’ll only be remembered fondly.

The West Ham Way’s man-in-the-know ExWHUEmployee will keep fans up to date on the progress of the talks as they develop over the coming weeks.
