Harrison Ashby is set to make his long awaited return to action having now recovered from a groin injury which has kept him sidelined for several months.

The Academy graduate, who featured various times for the first team under David Moyes last season has been absent since the season kicked off, following a summer of speculation surrounding his long term future in East London.

As reported by our man-in-the-know ExWHUEmployee over the summer, there was considerable interest in the Hammers right-back, especially from Newcastle and Leeds United, however West Ham managed to fend off interest with the club keen to tie down the defender to a longer term deal.

Ashbys current contract expires at the end of the current season so the clock is certainly ticking over whether the club can reach an agreement or allow the player to depart in the search for more regular first team opportunities.

Ex however this week, on The West Ham Way Podcast, revealed that Ashby has returned to action having featured recently for the U21’s side in a 3-0 loss to Liverpool, with the pacy right-back playing for 67 minutes.

The defender also revealed on social media that he was now back in full training, much to the delight of many fans eager to see the highly rated Hammer back in action

Ex also exclusively revealed that Ashby has travelled to Romania to be part of the squad to face FCSB in our final Group B Europa Conference League match, a group West Ham have already secured top spot.
