ExWHUEmployee is hopeful that the injury sustained by Gianluca Scamacca in the 1-1 draw with Fulham today isn’t serious.

The West Ham hitman, who signed for the club in a £30.5m deal from Sassuolo in the summer, had to be taken off early on in the contest following a strong challenge from Issa Diop.

Naturally the injury has many fans deeply concerned, considering we are just over a week away from our Premier League return against Arsenal and fellow striker Michail Antonio was also absent. However Ex has tried to calm fears and is hopeful the injury may not be as serious as feared.

“Scamacca’s injury is obviously a concern and we don’t yet have a proper diagnosis,” said Ex following the match. “A turned ankle though usually isn’t too serious, as Billy McKinlay stated the injury was – and the player also remained at the stadium to watch the remainder of the game.

“Let’s hope this is case and he can be fit for Arsenal on Boxing Day!”

The West Ham Ways man-in-the-know was also in a positive mood in his reflection of the mid-season break, stating that our Hammers should take confidence from the results achieved ahead of our Premier League return.

“The result was decent,” added Ex.”I think it was just important not to lose the game so with 2 wins and a draw in this mid season period – we can take confidence.

“I think the two players who have arguably benefited the most this break are Benrahma, who has continued his premier league form, and Bowen –  who has looked a lot more sharper around the goal.”
