West Ham striker Michail Antonio has come under fire following his latest interview, with the forward stating he could well depart the club this January.

Antonio has been a regular on the BBC’s ‘The Footballers Football Podcast’, with the player only recently questioning the teams currently playing style under David Moyes, which many felt wasn’t needed especially with West Ham in the midst of a relegation battle.

Now Antonio has further risks the wrath of all connected with the club, by stating in his latest appearance that he could well be set to leave the club after over 8 years in East London.

“Honestly, I’ve not ruled anything out. That’s all I can say,” Antonio answered when questioned over the chances of him leaving this January.

“Nothing has been ruled out. There are talks, so whatever happens, happens. I’ve been here for eight-and-a-half years now, become top goalscorer for the club and I’ve loved every moment of it,” said Antonio.

“Every single moment is somewhere close to my heart and I’ll always be looking out for it. I love the fans, I’ve loved my time at West Ham.

“It’s just one of those things. I’m not saying goodbye, I’m saying basically, if it happens, it happens and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t.

“I won’t be upset about staying and I’ll definitely be upset if I leave because obviously I’ve enjoyed my time here, but football is football.”

Antonio’s latest comments have not been well received by The West Ham Way Podcast host Dave Walker, who believes the Hammers number 9 has showed disrespect to everyone at West Ham, especially with the club fighting for Premier League survival this season.

“Mickeys comments are just another example of the state we are in at the moment,” stated Walker. “Whilst the majority of what he said was complimentary about his time with us, it still carried a negative undertone when we are desperate for some positivity at the moment.

“I don’t understand why he felt the need to go into that much detail? When asked about his future, why didn’t he just say “as it stands, I`m contracted to West Ham and until otherwise, this is where I`m focusing my energy” It`s not hard is it?

“I think it`s actually disrespectful to the club and the current scenario we are faced with to speak so openly about the potential of leaving this month. Where is the fight from these players? Everyone is always so defeated?!

“That dressing room seems broken to me and is lead by an under-performing manager, that the players have stopped playing for, and a captain that openly wants to leave the club. It`s a shambles at the moment.”
