West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta sustained a shoulder injury against Chelsea last weekend, with ExWHUEmployee providing an update.

The Brazilian international, who sustained a similar injury to his collarbone earlier in the season, left the field of play after only around five minutes of action after falling awkwardly during a battle for possession against the west London club.

Soon after Paqueta signalled to the bench that he needed to be replaced, much to the concern of all connected with the club, especially considering Paquetas recent performances showing a player far more settled in the side.

Following the match, Ex reported that the player would undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury, in the hope that it wouldn’t be as serious as previous.

It now appears that although the injury is within the same shoulder area, it has affected different ligaments – as stated by the player himself on social media.

The scan results have echoed this by providing the positive news that the injury is not as serious as first feared, and that the player should make a far more swift recovery.

Although there is a very slim chance that Paqueta could be involved in the London derby against Spurs this Sunday, at this stage it is more likely he’ll be available for the Nottingham Forest match the following weekend, or the FA Cup tie against Manchester United on 1st March.
