West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal suffered an injury to his heel in the victory over Nottingham Forest on 25th February, with ExWHUEmployee providing an update.

The Czech international had been in good form prior to the injury, having started to cement his place once again as our Hammers first choice right-wing-back, thus making the injury a cruel blow to all concerned as West Ham fight against relegation from the Premier League.

It was since revealed by our man-in-the-know Ex that Coufal has been diagnosed by ‘plantar fasciitis’, which is described as ‘pain on the bottom of your foot, around your heel and arch’ – which can take weeks and in some cases months to heal.

It has been hoped by David Moyes and his team that Coufal would make a quick recovery, however we are now at almost a month since the defender picked up the injury thus causing Coufal to miss key games at a key point in the campaign.

Ex though, speaking on The West Ham Way Podcast, has advised that there is a positive update surrounding the fitness of the Hammers defender.

“It’s good news regarding Coufal, with the player looking likely to be available to face Southampton when the Premier League returns.

“He has travelled with the Czech squad for the international break which is a clear indication too that he’s close to returning.”
