West Ham have all-but secured Premier League safety with a thrilling victory over Manchester United at the London Stadium.

Our Hammers produced one of the performances of the season to see off the Red Devils who simply struggled to contain the energy and drive from David Moyes’ side with an electric atmosphere to add to the mix.

The visitors thought to their credit started well, as they caused West Ham problems but lacked a cutting edge to take the lead despite carving out early chances.

Moyes’ side though grew into the game and always looked very dangerous on the counter attack, with Lucas Paqueta carving out opportunities with crisp passing which started to shift the momentum in our Hammers favour.

Then on 27 minutes West Ham were in front as Said Benrahma weaved into the outside of the box with no options ahead of him, which lead him to fire at goal which looked relatively comfortable for De Gea to save.

However the Manchester United goalkeeper fumbled and allowed the ball to fall into the corner of the net to send the London Stadium wild with delight.

Just before the break West Ham should have been rewarded a penalty when a Benrahma cross struck the obstructed arm of Lindelof – but incredibly VAR deemed that it was not a handball.

The second half carried on in the same vein as the first ended, with West Ham dominating the proceedings with the visitors unable to cope with the growing intensity that Moyes’ side demonstrated.

Two goals were ruled out for offences but a greater lead was what our Hammers deserved, with a display that will go down as one of the best produced this season.

It finished 1-0 with West Ham now looking at Premier League football again next season much to the relief of all connected with the club.

The West Ham Way Podcast hosts Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee both were understandably delighted with the performance and result, firmly in the knowledge that it all but secures our Hammers relegation survival this season.

“What a massive result!” exclaimed Walker. “All credit to the boys, we worked so hard and what was important is that we bullied them and they couldn’t live with it.

“We were the better team and we deserved that win, a big big big win!”

“What an amazing performance! said a thrilled Ex. “Every single player played well and it is perfectly timed so we can have all eyes on Europe now!

“In reality we could have won that game by a lot more than we did and I’m buzzing!”
