The West Ham Way are heading to Australia and are welcoming fans to join the very special Pre-Season Events.
We are delighted to be bringing our famous West Ham Way Events to Perth, Western Australian for West Ham United’s preseason tour. We will be hosting events before both of West Ham’s games, the first being this against Perth Glory on the Saturday 15th July and the second the game against Spurs on Tuesday 18th July 2023. The event will last for 3 hours and finish an hour and half before the kick off to enable the supporters to get to the ground and sample up the atmosphere before kick off. The event times are now confirmed as 1:30pm to 4:30pm.
We have secured the Empire Bar as the host venue. The venue is a 1.6km walk from the stadium and with plenty of transport options to the Optus Stadium should people not wish to walk. The bar has an amazing facilities and hosts the Perth Hammers Supporters Meets. The venue has kindly promised us a great deal on food, Carlton beer and St Clair wine, so this will be the cheapest around. We will be decorating the venue in West Ham memorabilia, playing traditional East End music and creating a party atmosphere. We will be showing West Ham DVD’s on the TVs and putting on a raffle and live auction with brilliant signed memorabilia brought over from London.
We are delighted to finally confirm after a few pull outs, guest poaches and former players going missing in action-these ex-players at the event. Both events will be hosted by Mad Dog, Martin Allen, who has his own weekly podcast with us on patron will be hosting the event. Martin Allen played for 6 years in the claret and blue and accumulated over 200 appearances. During his time he scored 25 goals and played under 3 different managers. He got his reputation as being a little bit eccentric and this comes across in his presenting style too. Martin also had 13 different spells as a club manager and works for the Referee’s association and as a club ambassador who also does stadium tours. This means he can cover a range of topics with much inside knowledge. We will also be able to film so brilliant patron content out of this.
The guest before the Perth Glory match will be our second top ever Premier League goal scorer Carlton Cole. Joining us from Chelsea in the 2006 season, Cole went onto play 256 times for the club scoring 55 goals. He featured in many memorable seasons including the Great Escape Year, our relegation under Avram Grant and our quick return to the top flight, scoring the first goal in the play off final win against Blackpool. Carlton is a popular player still now where his chant “Always believe in your ssssssssssssoouull” being still sung in the stands. He also is heavily involved in the club, so can speak about the current set up with knowledge too.
Our guest before the Spurs game will be Richard Garcia. Garcia was at West Ham from 1997-2004 and has so many stories to tell from a fascinating era. He was best mates with former player and Middlesborough manager Michael Carrick and managed to make 16 appearances for the club. He also played 17 times for the Australian national team including representing his country at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He is also a former player of Perth Glory as well as being their manager up until 2022.
We are aware that the club have decided to arrange a similar event at the same time as us and also use the same guests which has really made things difficult hence these late changes and additions. What we can offer but the club cannot is:
