West Ham are continuing our efforts to secure the signing of Harry Maguire, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

It was reported a couple of days ago that a fee had been agreed between West Ham and Manchester United for the England international, however Ex has since reported that there are items to resolve, mainly surrounding the players wages.

Although, like Ward-Prowse, the player will be unavailable for our opening match against Bournemouth tomorrow, it is felt the defender could be confirmed as a West Ham player by next week, should talks progress positively.

“Talks are still going on with Harry Maguire and Manchester United around the payments made to him due to a reduction in wages (if he joins West Ham) and loyalty bonuses,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon.

Ex has also advised that at this stage Manchester United are eager to bolster their defensive ranks prior to allowing the sale of Maguire to go ahead.

“Manchester United are keen to make progress with one of their centre back targets before sanctioning the move,” he added.

Should the deal be concluded successfully, it has been reported by Ex that the player could well be named the next club captain under David Moyes.

Maguire is a player with vast experience on the biggest stages, and has captained Manchester United for a number of years. It is felt his leadership and defensive qualities will be a very positive addition to our current squad.

Ex will keep fans up to date on the transfer as it develops on Patreon.
