Jesse Lingard appears to be getting closer to securing a contract at West Ham this summer, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

The former Manchester United midfielder and Hammers loanee has been spending the past couple of weeks training with the club in a bid to earn a deal to rejoin David Moyes’ side.

It was exclusively reported by Ex over a fortnight ago that Lingard was at Rush Green in a bid to rebuild his fitness with the possibility of an offer being made should he prove his commitment and fitness levels.

Lingard spent an incredibly successful loan spell at West Ham back in 2021, and although opted to make a move to Nottingham Forest last year, is keen return and repair the relationship with West Ham – where he has described to Kevin Nolan as his ‘second home.’

Despite the initial stance from the club being that the chances of a deal being offered were ‘very small,’ it’s now understood that it is more likely.

Reporting on The West Ham Way Podcast, ExWHUEmployee has stated that the player is working hard to secure the return to east London, and regrets the decisions made last summer.

“Lingard is still training with the club and as he’s a free agent, he doesn’t need to sign before the deadline,” said our Podcast co-host and club insider.

“The feeling is that he will therefore train during the international break after the Luton match, with that seen as the time to prove fitness and earn a deal with the club. “He’s made it very clear that he wants the move and regrets the decision to move to Nottingham Forest.

“He wants to end his career with a positive relationship with West Ham and the fans. A deal is expected to a short term contract which is heavily incentive based.”
