West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has make a big step this season in his Hammers career, with the Frenchman now up for an award for his performances.

The newly promoted number one keeper under David Moyes this season, Areola has thus far impressed, producing some vital saves whilst showcasing his excellent distribution technique, which ultimately provided the manager with the difficult decision to promote the France international over veteran Lucasz Fabianski – who realistically didn’t do much wrong to lose his spot.

In light of his start to the campaign, its no surprise that Areola in now in line for an award, with the goalkeeper up for the Castrol Premier League Save of the Month for August – following his outstanding stop to deny Evan Ferguson in our 3-1 victory away to Brighton.

Our Podcast co-host and club insider ExWHUEmployee believes that Areola is really showing his with to the club with his displays so far, and feels that he will continue to develop further under David Moyes this season.

“I think Areola has made a good start to the season,” stated Ex. “He really showed his worth with a penalty save against Chelsea and a very good display against Brighton.

“There has been the occasional panic moment but this is always expected at the start and I think as he grows in confidence with consistent games he will continue to get better and better!”

The West Ham Way are calling on our loyal fans to vote for Areola’s save in the August competition,. You can do so by voting here.
