West Ham could be given the opportunity to sign Hugo Ekitike in January, according to reports.

Throughout the Summer, the French striker was linked with a move to East London but nothing ever came to reality. It’s believed that PSG refused to let him join the Hammers as they wanted him to be part of a deal with Frankfurt.

However, it seems now that West Ham may be able to sign the 21 year old in the next window. PSG are said to have “accepted” he will “depart Parc Des Princes in the mid-season window,” Pete O’Rourke wrote for Football Insider.

Unfortunately, he’s not really had a chance to shine for the French giants playing on 8 minutes of football this season. Despite this, he’s an extremely talented youngster with unbelievable potential. He broke through at Reims and instantly took Ligue 1 by storm.

During his time at Reims, he scored 11 goals and got four assists in 28 games which, for a player of his age, is extremely impressive and just goes to show the potential that he has.

He was initially on loan in the French capital before completing his move. The player is said to be keen on joining West Ham and refused to join Frankfurt in favour of coming to England.

West Ham have had difficulties with bringing in the right striker over the last few years, with players like Haller and Scamacca not enjoying much success at the club. In fact, the large majority of strikers that have been signed under the current ownership have gone on to ultimately fail in Claret and Blue. Antonio has been brilliant over the years but he clearly lacks the instincts of a natural striker so it’s important that someone is brought in who is able to provide those benefits. Who knows, Hugo Ekitike might just be the one to break the curse.
