West Ham are continuing to monitor Jesse Lingard as he bids to earn a contract at the club, with ExWHUEmployee providing an update.

The former Manchester United midfielder, who spent an incredibly successful loan period in east London back in 2021, has been training with West Ham for a number of weeks in a bid to get himself match-fit and earn a deal under David Moyes once again.

The transfer window has long closed, but due to Lingard being a free agent – and the club having a space available in our 25 number squad limit, he can still sign for the club and return to plying his trade at the London Stadium.

There has been widespread speculation regarding Lingard, with other clubs reported to be interested in signing the player also, however it is understood his preference is to rejoin our Hammers.

Reporting on The West Ham Way Podcast, ExWHUEmployee has confirmed that the player does want a deal to be realised, and that a decision will arrive soon as West Ham look to build on the positive start to the season so far.

“The situation with Lingard is that he is still proving his fitness, although this has to be resolved soon,” stated our Podcast co-host and club insider. “At the end of the day it needs concluding either way as it is costing the club money – with travel, accommodation etc.

“A decision will come soon, and we know that the player wants the deal. However the club don’t want to pay until he’s available for selection.”
