West Ham midfielder and goalscorer Tomas Soucek has expressed his delight in reaching the 4th Round of the Carabao Cup, where we take on London rivals Arsenal.

David Moyes’ side triumphed over Lincoln City in a 1-0 win at the LNER Stadium, which proved a tough test for our Hammers, with the League One side putting in a solid display to make West Ham work very hard for the win.

Soucek was on hand to score in the 70th minute from yet another set-piece, as the Czech international headed home a corner to set up a date with his former teammate Declan Rice when Arsenal visit the London Stadium in a few weeks’ time.

The Hammers midfielder has stated that that it is clear from the team selection last night that it is clear how important West Ham are taking this competition, with the aim very much now to beat the Gunners and advance to the quarter-final stage.

“We put out a good squad against Lincoln and that shows how important we consider this competition,” said Soucek to whufc.com. “We don’t just have one small group of players, we have 20 players who are ready to play anywhere, anytime, which is the best thing for all of us.

“It’s tough to play against teams like Lincoln because, unlike teams in the Premier League, it’s more difficult to know what they’re going to do. We had one or two days to prepare for this, because of our busy schedules, but I think we prepared well for this game.

“They were very good from their set-pieces and their throw-ins, but we were able to do well and stop them from those areas.”

Our attention though now goes back to the Premier League, with Moyes’ side set to face Sheffield United at the London Stadium on Saturday – with our Hammers aiming to get another 3 points and continue to challenge at the high end of the table.
