West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen has been called up the England squad for the next set of international matches.

Bowen has been in outstanding form so far this season, already recording 5 goals despite only 7 matches having been played, which has quite rightly earned him a place in Gareth Southgates Three Lions squad to face Australia and Italy.

It will be a double header at Wembley Stadium, with the first a friendly against Australia, before hosting the Italians in an exciting Euro 2024 qualifier.

Bowen was understandably affected by narrowly missing out on the squad that went to the World Cup in Qatar last winter, however he has responded well to the situation by working hard and rediscovering his best form in east London.

ExWHUEmployee has given his thoughts on the call-up, and has admitted he still carried a certain level of anxiety when a Hammer gets the nod to represent England.

“I am always in mixed minds when key players of ours get called up to England squads,” stated our Podcast co-host and club insider. “I think I’m still traumatised by the Ashton situation.

“That said, it’s well deserved and I am really pleased for Bowen that he is back in, his form has been brilliant. The same could be said for James Ward-Prowse, so I think he will feel unlucky to miss out.”
