West Ham boss David Moyes has provided an update on the fitness of Kurt Zouma ahead of our clash against Olympiakos in the Europa League tonight.

It’s a big game for our Hammers, with victory all-but securing our place in the knockout stages of the tournament, but the fact the Greek side inflicted defeat on West Ham only a couple of weeks ago indicates that it will not come easy for Moyes’ side.

There have been concerns in recent weeks in east London surrounding the dip in performances and results, in all competitions – with the latest defeat on Saturday at the hands of Brentford. However, a win tonight would not only be a boost on the European front, but would certainly lift the mood ahead of our crucial home game against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this weekend.

Speaking to the media ahead of the match tonight, as reported by the clubs Official Website, the West Ham boss acknowledged the importance of the game, although admits the visitors are set to provide a big test for his Hammers side.

“If we win tomorrow night we’re in a good place and we want to get the wins to qualify and be in Europe after Christmas,” stated the West Ham boss.

“There were difficult challenges in Olympiacos. Out there, their crowd was phenomenal and they played a huge part on the day. Also, on the day, we didn’t play well – no where near our standards – so we want closer to our usual best tomorrow night.

“They’re a very experienced European team who have played a lot in the UK. I watched them play against Arsenal a couple of years ago. We’re up against a good team. Our group is probably the toughest group we’ve had in three years so we’ll have to play well.”

One question mark lingering at present is the fitness of Kurt Zouma, who has been absent recently with a strain – and the boss has provided a questionable update, as to whether Zouma is likely to feature against the Greek side tonight.

“We’re still waiting a little bit of Kurt,” added Moyes. “He’s not trained but he did a bit inside. We’ll have a look tomorrow and we’ll see how it is.”
