Former West Ham player Michael Carrick has been linked with a potential move back to the club as manager, with ExWHUEmployee providing an update on the situation.

Following our recent 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Fulham at the weekend, current boss David Moyes has again seen his long term future at the club come into question, with much speculation suggesting the club were considering his position.

This has then lead to widespread rumours cuirculating amongst the news outlets, with Carrick said to be a person the club highly admire, and could look to approach the current Middlesbrough manager to take over the post should Moyes be relieved of his duties.

However our Podcast co-host and club insider ExWHUEmployee has provided clarity on the situation as it stands, stating that the position of the club hasn’t changed and that Moyes still has the backing of the board to see out the remainder of his contract at the least.

“They have reiterated their stance that they currently back David Moyes and do not feel there will be any need to replace him, unless there is a dramatic downturn in results,” stated Ex on The West Ham Way Patreon.

“As a former Hammer, Carrick could be a long term consideration along with fan Will Still (with the club saying they will monitor his progress over the coming years) and another former player in Gary O’Neil – who is getting a lot of positive press.

“If the club choose to replace the manager at the end of the season, then it is thought that Tim Steidten will have a big part in that choice.

“Whether West Ham fans like it or hate it, it appears that David Moyes has the club’s backing for now.”
