The prospect of playing alongside Lucas Paqueta is one of the main reasons that Mohammed Kudus joined West Ham, according to reports.

Mohammed Kudus is the man that everyone is talking about. Since joining West Ham, he has quickly become one of the first names on the team sheet and one of the most entertaining players the country. His blistering pace, brilliant finishing and abundance of skill have seen him take the Premier League by storm.

However, it did not always seem like the winger was destined to play in Claret and Blue, according to The Athletic. Chelsea, Brighton and even clubs from Saudi Arabia looked to be ahead of the Hammers in the race for the Ghanaian.

Fortunately, Tim Steidten was able to work his magic; ultimately, his “sales pitch” is what convinced Kudus to come to East London.

One key factor in his arrival was actually Lucas Paqueta. Despite never playing with the Brazilian before, Kudus wanted to be assured that Paqueta would not be departing for Manchester City (who were heavily linked with a move for him before his betting scandal came to light). Additionally, he wanted to make sure he would be playing with the midfielder rather than them competing for the same position. Steidten put any concerns to rest, confirming that they would be both playing together and, since then, they have gone on to form an excellent relationship.

Their understanding of each other was best shown in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Wolves. Paqueta assisted all three goals, two of which came from Kudus. The pair seem to be on the same wavelength with Ghana’s star boy constantly making runs in behind onto world-class through balls from his teammate.

Add Bowen into the mix and West Ham have three players who are deadly on the attack. To stop any of them individually the opposition requires two or more players on them at all times, but doing that with all three for 90 minutes is near impossible.

Sunday proved that when those three are playing like they can, they are unstoppable. It is an overwhelming amount of talent to have and we are just lucky all three play for West Ham. It’s going to be hard, but if we can keep hold of them and continue to build around the strong foundations this squad has, then winning the Conference League last year could just be the beginning of a very exciting era in the East End of London.
