David Moyes missed a huge opportunity by fielding a weakened side against Liverpool, says Podcast host Dave Walker.

There is no denying the display from West Ham at Anfield on Wednesday, which saw us dumped out of the Carabao Cup by losing 5-1 to Jurgen Klopps side, has left a very nasty taste in the mouth with many questioning the desire, or lack of, shown by the club.

Moyes opted for a much changed side, which saw the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Emerson, Kurt Zouma and James Ward-Prowse put on the bench to rest, despite the prize for the game being a place in the semi-final stage of the domestic cup competition.

Subsequently, the decisions made saw West Ham simply outclassed in every department, and despite losing 5-1 – it felt that scoreline was kind on Moyes’ side, who Liverpool simply dominated from start to finish.

The West Ham Way Podcast host Dave Walker didn’t hold back on his assessment of the game, particularly on the manager and his decision to effectively take the game lightly.

“That was unforgivable from David Moyes,” said a furious Walker. “A cup quarter final and he puts out a team like that?!

“What an opportunity wasted, especially with Liverpool rotating like they did. I just don’t understand his thought process? He did this in a quarter final against Arsenal a few years ago as well!

“It’s disrespectful to all those that travelled up 5 days before Xmas on a freezing and wet Wednesday night – I’m actually really p***** off about this.”
