David Moyes has tried to put the shockingly poor showing at Anfield behind him, although pressure is firmly on ahead of this weekend.

West Ham host Manchester United in a return to Premier League action in the early kick off on Saturday, in the knowledge that a victory will see our Hammers leapfrog the Red Devils as we continue our challenge on the European spots this season.

There is however a real feeling of discontent at present amongst the east London faithful, with fans quire rightly angry and disillusioned over the display and choices made by Moyes this week in our embarrassing 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool in the League Cup Quarter-Final on Wednesday night.

What appears to have become clear from Moyes following the loss is that the club essentially prioritised the clash with Erik ten Hag’s side this Sunday over a good chance at a place in the Semi-Final of the Carabao Cup.

This has therefore created a real pressure that the team must now respond well and put in a much-improved display tomorrow, as Moyes looks to try and put the Liverpool hammering behind him.

“No time to dwell and we won’t,” said Moyes to the press ahead of Satursday, as reported by the clubs Official Website.

“We’re on a good position in the league and we want to do well in that and in Europe too. We’ve qualified top of the group again this year, we’ll move onto the next game and put it away now.

“Mentally it’s a big ask again for the players but we’ll be up for the game, ready to play and hopefully put in a good performance.”

Moyes will want to see a result to ease the growing discontent at present, and admits he will be relying on our positive home form to come through in what is a big game in the chase for  European football again next season.

“We’re fighting hard to stick around the position we’re in,” added Moyes.

“We want to get European football for a fourth straight season. Our home form will be important to that and we want to get a result on Saturday.”
